When one starts out on their journey towards physical fitness, it seems easy enough. A good number of people will buy a gym membership, take a few aerobic classes coupled with hourly treadmill sessions only to be frustrated several weeks later with little weight loss or no visible improvements. But it is not their fault. First, gyms are filled with treadmills, ellipticals, and stair climbers strapped with TV screens falsely leading its members to believe that the continued use of these types of equipment adds efficiency (or productivity) to their workout. The harsh reality is that it only achieves minimal results. Secondly, many aerobic classes use plyometric exercises which can be extremely dangerous for a novice leading to potential injury, causing muscle and joint pain, and making one’s time at the gym wasteful and their membership costly.
I’ve been working in the fitness industry since 2010. My knowledge in human anatomy and biomechanics is comprehensive.
